International experience can help you build practical skills, strengthen your résumé, and bring new ideas back to your community. Finding the right opportunity starts with understanding who can apply—and what participation will cost.
Okoye-Chase has added internship, exchange, and leadership resources to help Nigerian students, graduates, and early-career professionals compare their options.
Start with official programme information
Our internship directory includes links to African Union, ECOWAS, UNICEF, UNDP, CERN openlab, and AIESEC programmes. Our exchange directory covers volunteering, leadership, and language-assistant opportunities.
These are starting points for research. A programme’s appearance in the directory does not mean applications are currently open or that every Nigerian applicant will qualify.
Always read the provider’s current call before preparing an application.
Check more than nationality
A Nigerian passport may meet a programme’s nationality requirement, but other conditions still matter. Look for:
Age limits and education requirements.
Required experience and language skills.
Residence or student-enrolment conditions.
Application deadlines and programme dates.
References and supporting documents.
Focus your effort on opportunities that match your circumstances.
Understand the full cost
“International opportunity” does not always mean “fully funded.”
Check whether the programme covers travel, accommodation, meals, insurance, and local transport. Some placements provide a stipend. Others require participants to cover substantial costs or pay programme fees.
Build a realistic budget before accepting an offer.
Prepare an application that reflects your experience
Keep an accurate résumé ready. Gather examples from school, employment, volunteering, entrepreneurship, or community involvement.
Explain what you contributed, what you learned, and how the opportunity connects to your goals. Ask referees early and give them enough time to respond.
Apply through the provider’s official channel. Selection and any required travel permissions are separate decisions.
Find your next opportunity
Our resource pages bring official links and practical summaries together so you can spend less time searching and more time preparing.
